Artichoke Festival’s 2nd Annual Turkeys & Toys Charity Golf Tournament

At first glance people may wonder, “what do golf and artichokes have to do with one another?”

We can make that connection! The Artichoke Festival has always had at it’s foundation, the mission to raise money to give back to the surrounding communities of it’s hometown, Castroville, California, in a wonderful celebration of the artichoke.

On November 21, 2021 at the beautiful Laguna Seca Golf Ranch in Monterey, your participation in our charity golf tournament will enable the Artichoke Festival, which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, to continue funding many wonderful charitable and educational non-profit organizations within Monterey County — PLUS, just in time for the holiday season, you’ll also be helping us make holiday celebrations a bit brighter and more merry for our neighbors in need. We are partnering with two additional beneficiaries, The Food Bank of Monterey County and Operation Give Back Toy Drive to collect frozen turkeys* and new toys for distribution to Monterey County families.

Artichokes have heart, and a lot of drive! Duffers and scratch players alike are invited to bring their “A” game, (A is for Artichoke!), and join us next Sunday for a beautiful day on the links in Monterey. Tournament setup is a four-person scramble, shotgun start. Players will have a chance to Challenge a Pro for longest drive and closest-to-the-pin contests, and vie for amazing hole-in-one prizes, such as a golf travel package to Sonoma wine country, a new golf cart, and more. Each turkey and toy donation buys one Mulligan coupon* for use on any hole. With our Cash-to-Turkeys program, cash donations can be allocated to The Food Bank for Monterey County in lieu of a Frozen Turkey. We’ll bring in breakfast and a boxed lunch, and finish with an awards ceremony to acknowledge our players’ winning efforts. Together we can make this a special holiday season for our community’s families.

About the Artichoke Festival
California’s artichoke history began in 1922 when the first artichoke shoots were planted in Castroville. Today, almost ten decades later, nearly 100 percent of America’s fresh artichoke supply is grown in California and nearly two-thirds is grown around the small town of Castroville.

The Artichoke Festival began in 1959 and has since developed to become a harvest festival to celebrate the iconic artichoke and region known as the “Artichoke Center of the World.” The Festival features family-fun events for all ages and has been a primary source of funding for local non-profit groups for
many years. In recent years, the Artichoke Festival’s activities have grown to include more family-friendly fundraising events throughout the year, such as an October Haunted House, a 5K Beach Fun Run, and the Turkeys & Toys Charity Golf Tournament.
