About Pajaro Valley Golf Club – A Floyd McFarkland and Robert Muir Graves designed golf course

PAJARO (PÁ-HA-RO) MEANS “BIRD” IN SPANISH and is aptly named, since the golf course adjoins the Elkhorn Slough, a bird sanctuary. Many species of birds and wildlife may be seen while enjoying the quiet and gentle rolling course suited for all players. Clean air and cool breezes from the Monterey Bay and Pacific Coast ensure a perfect golf experience.

Course Features

Originally designed by Floyd McFarkland, Pajaro Valley Golf Club has large Monterey Pines lining its generous rolling fairways. Elevated tees provide scenic views of the Pajaro Valley below. Opened in 1922 and redesigned in 1962 by Robert Muir Graves, the course features small bentgrass greens and four ponds with water in play on three holes. The fourth is one of the course’s most challenging holes, a 420-yard par 4 with triple-tiered green. The course also was once the home of former U.S. Open champion Olin Dutra, who spent the last part of his career teaching here. A wonderful place to play, conveniently located in Royal Oaks, off Highway 1, on Salinas Road. Take a scenic drive down the coast from San Francisco, a short escape from Silicon Valley over the beautiful Santa Cruz mountains, or a short drive up the coast from Carmel or Monterey.
