Everyone’s Harvest is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that operates six farmers’ markets and community food programs in Monterey County. The mission is to provide access to healthy, affordable fruits and vegetables through certified farmers’ markets and community food programs. The vision is for every community to have a fair and sustainable food system.
More than 2,500 families are served weekly by Everyone’s Harvest markets in Salinas, Marina, and Pacific Grove – with more than 25 small and mid-scale farmers serving them. Everyone’s Harvest takes pride in the growing community of people who value organic food and rely on Everyone’s Harvest for access to local fresh fruits and vegetables. The farmers’ market locations serve diverse communities and low-income people. Local hospitals host Everyone’s Harvest Certified Farmers’ Markets at Natividad Medical Center and Salinas Valley Health System. Everyone’s Harvest pioneered access to several public nutrition benefits at its farmers’ markets for everyone to access fresh, local, and organic foods Today at Everyone’s Harvest: Over 50 percent of Everyone’s Harvest Certified Farmers’ Markets farmers are certified organic and come from within a 100-mile radius of Monterey County. All six of our Certified Farmers’ Markets serve low-income communities and accept (SNAP) Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT), the modern day food stamp, and double the amount that CalFresh users can spend at the markets on produce for up to $30 spent on their EBT card (that’s $60 worth of produce for $30 of EBT) through our Market Match program. Two of our Certified Farmers’ Markets are partnerships with medical institutions – Natividad Medical Center and Salinas Valley Health – who both partner in the Fresh Rx program, our produce prescription program where healthcare professionals prescribe fresh fruits and vegetables to their patients with chronic diet-related health conditions and the patients redeem their prescriptions at the farmers’ market. The organization offers free space to other nonprofits, community groups, and government entities at its markets for public outreach.

Gathering for Women-Monterey
Monterey, CA
Gathering for Women – Monterey (GFW) is the only facility on the Monterey Peninsula where homeless and housing-insecure women and their children can address their basic needs. Guests at GFW’s Day Center receive nutritious meals, clean clothing, hot showers, and a safe place to regain dignity, self-worth, and hope.
Homelessness is traumatic. Beyond the struggle to meet basic needs, the women we serve often have a history of trauma in addition to the trauma of experiencing homelessness. This makes them vulnerable to further violence and victimization, which makes re-traumatization inevitable.
As part of our wellness program, we currently offer meditation, mindful journaling, laughter yoga, support, and self-esteem groups, and through a partner organization, equine therapy. Our guests also have access to free basic physical healthcare and dental care through a new community partnership with Clinica de Salud’s Mobile Clinic.
Our healing programs and spaces allow our guests to step away from the difficulties they face on a day-to-day basis and learn tools to be better able address their trauma and heal. Already we have seen an improvement in the health and well-being of wellness program participants, with one guest directly citing her participation in the program as the reason she was able to work through her trauma and obtain and maintain housing. It is critical that we continue to ensure that women’s basic needs are met, as we address the underlying causes of homelessness and housing insecurity, while navigating the obstacles to finding affordable housing. Gathering for Women’s Day Center will remain an essential piece of women’s pathway out of homelessness for the foreseeable future.
Our booth would be for information purposes both to attract new volunteers, as well as be a resource for those who might need our services.
